I think he's still in Leeds Mercury CC. I used to race against him a few years ago.

That'll Steve Goodwin then. Way back my old band supported them quite a bit.Leeds Duchess in about 91 or 92. Other indie also-rans The Family Cat were also on the bill.

Cud have done a few shows in the last year or so. Mike Dunphy wouldn't have nothing to do with it tho.

Mike produced a couple of our early demo's & had a bit of a soft spot for our melodic musings. He arranged for some record company bods to come & see us play. Needless to say due to a p1ss taking hour+ soundcheck by main act, me & my lot got stuck right into the free bar & come showtime were fecked.

Gig didn't go to well. Drummer told A&R men that he intended to torch the kit( other bands btw). Singist forgot words. I had technical issues with amp so booted it over , the noise of the reverb spring destoying itself nearly blew the PA. Then I jumped of stage( while rest of band soldiered on) carefully packed geetar in it's case, gave singer the finger & strolled off.

We didn't get signed. I got guitar pinched, Mike didn't speak to us for months & we just about called it a day that night. We had another go a few years later & are all still mates to this day...

My band was called Dakota. We played at the Duchess quite a few times over the years.

"Fat Carl"... how he must've loved the "you fat b@stard" chants at every gig. He was once described in The Melody Maker as a cross between Mick Hucknall, Tom Jones & a whale ( all done in a frilly shirt & leather keks).

    Stuff of legend.

You would've remembered the gig I mentioned on the earlier post!....Shambolic(s) in a really sh1t way. It was at The Fenton. We were supporting a bunch called "Ket Kolomper"....a band made up of CUD & Wedding Present roadies.

You would expect their set to consist of constant & repeated guitar tuning, drummer hitting each tub in turn then doing a cack roll & the singer going TWO! TWO! TWO!
In reality they were half decent....& not sh1t faced like what we were.
