problem with formula brakes

hi, i have a set of formula 'the one' brakes, and have had clearance issues from new. the pads keep rubbing continuously on the discs. i'm using xtr c/l rotors not formula but the fella at propel bike says that wouldn't be the problem. i'm using pattern sintered pads and not genuine formula ones, which he says maybe the problem. so before i fork out nearly £20 a pr on genuine ones and still possibly find that isn't the problem, i thought i'd ask for other opinions first. have i missed something ?
cheers lads

you have pushed the pistons home?
the disc does not get moved by the pads when you apply the brakes?
how badly do they rub?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

hi lads, pistons move easily and brakes have been centered on discs as well as poss as there is very little to no clearance. they rub enough to slow me down noticibly. the original pads are long gone but i do remember the originals catching but not as bad as they are now. 1/2 way through 2nd set pads. front is worse than rear. the bike is a yeti 575 bought for trips to wales and scotland, which don't happen very often so they've had little use in the last year.0

you have used the pad position adjuster to back the pads off?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

hi nicklouse, pad position adjuster? i've poked, probed, sworn, cursedfiddled, twiddled, twisted, sworn somemore. probably have, possibly haven't. what does it look like?0

sorry but have you read the manual?
it tells you all the adjustments there are.
I will find it in a moment for you."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

but it is just where the push rod goes into the pump body."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

You should have a problem with the rotors i run the XTR's on my K24 brakes and they are spot on.
More fettling i think with the setup as the XTR rotors are thicker than Formula's0 -
thanks for the download nicklouse, i feel this maybe usefull. my instructions have long gone as i moved to roi, back again and then to where i am now.
landy813 cheers for that as i now know its possible to run xtr rotors with my brakes.
i did speak to the tech guy at propel-bike who didn't think it was the rotors, it was the pattern pads i'm using which is slightly thicker than formula pads. hmmm. i'm going to file the back of a new set of pads down slightlyand then play with the setup again.
many thanks for your observations lads.0
