Avid Elixir CR Carbon or Formula R1 brakes?

Has anyone got any experience of Avid Elixir carbon brakes or Formula R1's? What would people go for on a XC bike?

    R1's are lighter. On my full susser i have got juicy 3's and they are nothing but trouble i am constantly playing with them to get them to perform how i think they should feel. On my race bike all i have done is re place the front pads on the R1's, they work all the time every time and have required no fetterling. The Elixir may be different.

    Yes i had seen them but got a great deal on the Formulas.

    Really impressed with my Elixirs. Very good power and modulation, more so than my Juicy 7's.

    Try Merlin Cycles, they always have good deals on.
