Hi Guys,

A group of us are riding to Paris in May, not part of an organised tour/group just independently. Will be Breaking it up over 4 days;

75 miles - London to Dover
then 3 consecutive days of around 56 miles per day, last day hopefully arriving into Paris!

We're all fairly fit and have been doing 20+ rides fairly regularly, but haven't done rides of this distance on consecutive days.

Just after some training tips or general advice if anyone has previously done this ride before?

Any help would be great.

Cheers!

    Build up your mileage progressively over the coming months. You'll be surprised how soon your body gets used to it. It's the back to back thing that can catch you. Try and do rides on both days of a weekend. If you are carrying your own kit get used to riding with loaded panniers as this can be a culture shock if you don't.
    On the day give yourself plenty of time, especially on your long leg nothing worse than trying to flog yourself to the ferry. And enjoy it!

    When in Paris there are some really good guided Bike tours with FATIRE who meet under the Eiffel Tower.if you want see Paris on the bike..Dozens on them so they must be making megabucks..they have a Day tour,Paris by night Versaille Monet Gardens etc..Meet some intertesting people on them..The only experience I have is Dieppe to Paris following the Seine and it was very pleasant.including a stopover in Rouen..That is an alternative to direct from Calais

    We did this last year. Check out our experience at www.tourdeamateursblogspot.com

    It's the back to back days that's hard. Plus trying to do it the back road route takes to much time up checking the map.
