I think that's the correct spelling for a woman. There's always an extra 'i' as in 'I want this', 'I want you to do that' or 'I've got a headache' etc.

Spellchecker? Red line underneath anything that is spelt wrong. Avoids being laughed on bike forums.

A fair bit of cash to spend on a pretty average bike in my view.

It's a bit of a risk buying second hand but in my experience there can be some good buys out there. For that sort of money, you could get a very good second bike albeit you miss out on the LBS factor. Get an informed friend to help you out instead perhaps.

You'll probably want to upgrade the Secteur in no time at all!

If you use Google chrome as your browser you get a built in spell checker - bizarre then that it doesn't recognise "GOOGLE"

Besides, it appears that none of you saw the spelling mistake. The youth of today with their 800 word vocabularies.... ;-)

    Saw, or cared about? =']
  • Not much point in buying right now unless the OP is planning on polishing it for the next week. I'm holding out on buying a Secteur sport from an LBS (13 is local, I travel 72 miles every day) until the weather picks up and the salt content of spray reaches acceptable levels.
Firefox also comes with built in spell checker but this doesn't help if the spelling is correct but not the intended word. I was unimpressed by an email from a recruitment company that was written by an agent with a degree in Business Management who managed to use weather twice as in " I don't know weather you're interested..."

    Hi Hilza,

Tell them to Feck off, you asked a question and should have had an honest reply.

As for weight, if you are dead set on this bike, then fine, but there are a lot lighter out there.

The Planet X is a fantastic Bike with a Carbon Frame and probably weighs 3lb lighter.

The Boardman has brilliant reviews and comes with SRAM groupset, tremendous buy and you would have money left.

The Ribble Grand Fondo is a superb piece of equipment, hopefully this link will take you to it: -

PM me if I can help any further.

BTW I make lots of spelling errors and I install the Google tool bar and use the check facility on my spelling, I still get it wrong, but anyone who wants to criticise can do, it just show how small minded they are when someone is asking fro genuine help.

    Best of Luck.

Although the above bikes will be lighter than the Secteur Sport, I'm afraid they are all around double the OP's budget. (iro £550, if I'm correct)

...as I said, 'if I'm correct' - Spesh confusingly have quite a few models under the 'Secteur' name, and I think it's the £550 base model that Hilzas looking at.

I agree with you about the spelling Nazi Pedants though! :D

...unless Hilza asks what peggals to get.

About 11kg for the base model. What is more important is the all up weight of bike and rider.

I have no idea what my bike weighs but I weigh 16 stone and that's far more important than whether my bike weighs 20 or 22 pounds.

To replace parts on a bike to save 2lbs costs a LOT!!

To lose 7lbs from the rider costs not a single penny.......
