So the missus and I have now replaced our stolen bikes (I got a Merlin Malt 1 and she got a Specialized Rockhopper SL).

I want to security mark / tag our bikes so deter theives and hopfully make it possible to recover the bikes if stolen.

Has anyone used these tagging / marking kits?

Are they worth the money or should I just spray my bike bright orange to make it unique??

Any advice very welcome!

It's only any use if the police find it. In which case they'll suspect it's stolen anyway, they don't walk around scanning random bikes.

If it's not a super-special custom build (in which case it'll be unique anyway so no need for a tag!) then I wouldn't bother, the money's better spent on insurance IMO. Just note down the serial numbers, take photos and keep a record of any customised/non-standard parts, so if they are stolen and found you can show they're yours.

Mate have you considered using Smartwater?
All my bikes have been done including all components, you only need a small amount on each part.
    Not that expensive either.
