Can anyone offer any 1st hand experince on their trainers and which one would be best? Noise isn't to much of an issue although quieter would be better as it will be used in the house in front of the TV

Im a little confused by the 4 different models, im thinking of the Jetfluid Pro or SuperMagneto Pro, would get the kit as it comes with the mat riser and bike thong which would all come in handy, plus £20 extra off if ordered before tommorrow night, anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

I've got the Magneto and it works fine. It's just about quiet enough to watch stuff on TV, but the fluid ones will be quieter, I expect.0

I've just bought the magneto with dvd one from wiggle using the new £20 off voucher code0

I just bought the fluid 2 last week and impressed so far ,suprised how quiet it is
still able to hear the telly0 -
I have a Fluid 2 and it's very good. Quiet enough to train, though the hrader you ride the louder the noise. I don't think the noise is from the turbo, more likely the wheels!
I have no thoughts to change it.Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
I have a Jet Fluid Pro which is supposed to be quieter than the Fluid 2 - but I have found it very, very noisy - so much so that I've hardly used it. I couldn't recommend one to anyone. I'm still waiting on my Conti Turbo tyre to arrive through the snow so I can see if that quietens it down a bit.My cycling blog: http://girodilento.com/0

Thanks for the responses guys,
ScottieP I was leaning towards the fluidpro one as I thought it would be ideal, Bikeradar gave it 4 1/2 and said it was the quietest they had used http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/accessories/resistance-trainer/product/jetfluid-pro-33885
It is strange though as a couple people on the reviews on Wiggle have said it is really loud but others have said it is very quiet, seems odd and don't know whether to risk it now

I specifically chose the Jet Fluid Pro as I needed a quiet turbo - but I've found it to have a loud whine ... which I'm hoping can be fixed by using a Turbo tyre. I use it in my kitchen on a concrete floor (with Lino) and it's very noisy. I also chose it because of the Bike Radar reviews and the noise graph on the Cycle Ops website that said it was the quietest one they make.
I didn't use it all for a month (due to work commitments etc) so it's now way too late to return it - otherwise I would. If you did decide order one - make sure you get it from somewhere you can return it to without any problems and so you can try it and make sure you're happy with it. Wiggle are pretty good like that I believe (not tried though).
I was originally looking for a Kurt Kinetic Road Machine - but no one had any at the time. Chain Reaction are selling them again now - they are supposed to be very good and quiet.
Hope this helps - and sorry if I've put you off - but I can't recommend the Jet Fluid Pro as the one I have is too loud. Other owners might have a different view and I might be the unlucky one that's not happy with hundreds of other happy users out there. My cycling blog: http://girodilento.com/0 -
By the way - I got mine from Wiggle and haven't submitted a review yet - I'm planning to after I try the turbo specific tyre - unless that helps the noise problems my review will be pretty negative too.My cycling blog: http://girodilento.com/0

No turbo is going to be silent. I have the fluid 2 as it was supposed to be quiet. However when you add in the drivetrain noise, tyre on roller noise, virations in the floor, squeak of cleats, whoosh of spokjes through the air and (even worrse) the huge fan - it is far from silent! However I use it in a flat and reckon it is no worse than a washing machine for the neighbouring flats. It helps to have a smooth tyre, sticky rubber is better but wears out fast. A rollmat / turbo mat lowers the vibration noise in the floor, and pedalling smoothly seems to be particularly effective at lowering noise!
Returning a used item to a shop is a bit off IMHO - would you be happy to receive a used item if you bought it?0 -
Thanks for the responses guys, and for the info ScottieP. Noise wont be to much of an issue as only my mate lives in my spare room and I start work later than he does so when using it in the morning wont be a problem, plus with some decent headphones on the Ipod and Sky Sports news on the TV that will be my set up!
Thanks again

I got the Fluid Pro and am really pleased with it - but can't compare it with others as it is my first trainer - is very easy and quick to set up, thus taking away one excuse not to use it - and putting a turbo tyre on a cheap spare wheel helps both with noise reduction and with wear and tear.. Seems sturdy enough as well.purplehaze0

i have the Supermagneto pro. Rock solid and pretty quiet. 4 levels of resistance. good trainer.0

I've now put a Continental Turbo tyre on an old spare wheel and it's made my Jetfluid Pro much quieter .... I can live with it now and the resistance levels are more than enough for my puny legsMy cycling blog: http://girodilento.com/0
