I realise that this must have been covered before but I can't find it
A sticky perhaps?

I am going for a week in Majorca and am looking for insurance which will cover my bike.
I am primarily concerned about damage/loss in transit.
I have looked and most seem to limit single items to £250/500 which is inadaquate for me.
That even includes British Cycling.

I am probably missing something somewhere but does anyone have any tips?

Thanks! :P

Have you had a wander around the CTC site?

The CTC recommendation is a good one: http://www.cyclecover.org.uk/

If you just want to protect your bike then the most cost-effective option woud be to include it on your household contents insurance (and if need be change to someone like M&S or Tesco Finest when it comes up for renewal).

Oh and don't forget you need to lock the bike or the theft cover will be invalid.

  • I can second andymiller's advice to use M&S. I changed my contents (and house) insurance to them as they gave cover of up to £4k for any one item taken away from the home - and that included bicycles, plus in answer to my specific question they confirmed that no special securing device was necessary (any sort of cycle lock was ok) and there were no special security requirements. This was very refreshing after reading the pretty onerous requirements the CTC insurers demanded! In addition to this, their premium was only a couple of quid higher than what I'd been paying previously.
