20mm bolt thru Grease/ Oil/ Dry?

When using a 20mm bolt thru front and 12mm rear are you supposed to put grease on the axel, oil it or run it dry?
Trail bike: Kona Coiler 06, Rockshox domain 318is, juicy 7s, sun rims s-type.
Commute bike: Dawes Watoga.

well as nothing moves on them you just need to make sure the bearing races dont seize on it so some anti seize

I always put a very thin smear of grease on through axles (both Maxle and Fox) as I've found that they can seize occasionally.0

yup grease um up, ive almost destroyed a pike axle that was seazed in, a 24h soak in plus gas and lots of hammering and prying later it eventually came out coverd in ally oxide.0
