These guys are great,

I bought a back wheel direct and a front from wiggle.
The back was 2010 the fron 2009..2010 has a white hub, 2009 has black and different graphics..

I emailed them and they let me swap the 09 front wheel with them for a 2010 wheel no questions asked..

Mega friendly and great service and a very nice set of hoops indeed!

:D

id be interested to know how these hold up in the long run. they look a good value wheel. which set are they?
  • Halo mercury, they feel really solid, i bought them to replace bontrager race lite wheels i had on my madone, the bontragers where pants and i wanted something well priced and light...they tick all the boxes
  • Hi, I have been looking at these for a while as a possible replacement for my stock R500 wheels but the only thing that I am a bit worried about is the low spoke count and any flexing, especially when climbing. I have a set of Alex wheels on another bike and get brake rub on the front and back when I need it least. Have you noticed any flex or rubbing? The weight, rim depth and design look great (and I like that they are a bit different to the usual wheels on most bikes...).

I'm losing faith in my Aerorage as I seem to be picking bits of the rim out of the brake blocks on a daily basis.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • Been doing a few miles on the mercurys and they are good, the back wheel wasn't bult up entirely true or round but i got that sorted.
There's a very tiny bit of flex when hammering down, not really enough to see but my computer magnet on the front wheel just starts to clip on the reciever (2mm movement)

The wheels are great to climb on and they roll fast, there's a big improvent in these compared to the Bontrager race lite's that i had previously.. Not done crazy miles yet but so far i'm very impressed.. :D
  • Impressed with my Mercurys. Despite the low weight and spoke count they are pretty stiff (much stiffer than my similarly priced and specced Xero Centauris). I think the non aero beefy looking spokes play a part.

I had a set of the Mercurys a year or so ago. Rebuilt them with some Sapin aero spokes... Made a huge differnce.

Before I was able to get some flex out of them when sprinting or really pushing it up the hills. Whether the spokes or the fact I got them rebuilt by hand, they ended up being much much stiffer! Even used them in a few races and had no issues. Great set of wheels.

  • Damn...The bike shop cant fix my rear mercury as its egged?.. It was that shape when it arrived..
I've emailed halo to see if they can fix it for me (or if they will)
Hopefully they will as they are great wheels apart from the egg shape.
