looking at going to the peaks in the summer, wont have a car, so would like some ideas of good bike routes - not too tricky, as will be taking the girlfriend, but abit of fun for me at the same time.
so any good routes with out going to far afield from campsites, and can you suggest some camp sites which are near these bike trails.
trails, being uphill, downhill, off road mainly, any terrain is good, whether that be rocks, or single track.
oh and because of no car, we are getting there by train, so all of this needs to be close to a train station.
many thanks tom

Both from Edale station on the Manchester-Sheffield
Also there's some trails from Buxton station if you are coming from Manchester direction, Matlock if from Derby direction and Dore & Totley if you want to be nearer to Sheffield
In fact there are trails from virtually all stations on the Manchester-Sheffield line0 -

Either Edale or Hope would make excellent bases for a holiday. The campsites are marked on the Dark Peak 1:25k OS map. And get yourself a copy of the Dark Peak guide book before you go.0

Edale all day long, great riding, train station & decent pub0

The White Peak is probably easier as the terrain is more rolling - base yourself in the Bakewell/Baslow area and you won't go far wrong.
The Dark Peak is great, but the terrain is a lot "bigger" and can be very exposed and bleak, even in summer.
I like both areas but the White Peak is definitely easier.0
