I always went to one of these when I wanted rock bottom prices

No use if you need any support afterwards, but loads of slightly out of date, cheapo stuff.

Depends what you mean by poverty prices also. Dell outlet store is always worth keeping an eye on. Otherwise ebay, Loot and your local paper have all done me proud in the past.

    You could try here: http://www.cclonline.com/
...pretty decent prices, and you could get base-unit only, if all the other components are ok. :D

I thought you were implying that NapD was on the run from justice. :D

  • Buy all the bits separately and build your own. You then know exactly what is in it, you can buy each bit from the cheapest source and you don't need to pay out for things you know you will never need.
It is not as difficult as some people may have you believe.

Some local small computer shops round here even buy stock from them, there prices are really good.

Already looked into that one, and having in the past fitted CD & hard drives, RAM and various cards it wouldn't frighten me.

But having costed it, by the time you add an operating system you are above what the likes of Comet and Currys charge for a budget PC, which is all I need.

+1 Fantastic site! Have bought two computers from there recently.Really cheap. Have many good deals on just the tower so you don't have to spend money on moniters etc. if you already have them allowing for a better specced PC.

I got a PC from a Uni. as they upgrade them all every so often. Very cheap. Worth a try if there's one near you.

The PC I currently use came from ASDA about a year ago, cost £180 for complete package. I upgraded the RAM (£20 for 1GB of memory) and it works well and does everything I need it to do.

I built 2 PCs from scratch with custom components, one for music software and productions, the other more general. Both had a succession of failed PSUs and in the end I got sick of replacing bits and bought the lappy I now use from PCWorld.

Depends how cheap, Aldi have got some decent ones in for £350. You'd need to buy a monitor on top of that too though.

But then lots of 'computer people' would say that £350 for a bike wasn't cheap

For that money they always seem to get good reviews and seem to give vgfm.
