I would get a gym ball and use that for stretching plus it can be used to help with your back exercises.
  • I use one of these and can vouch that it works for me. I suffered a stable fracture of my lower spine about 16 years ago and it "siezes up" if I sleep on my back or spend the majority of a day standing on my feet.

10-15 mins using this works a treat

You can get the same effect by using a rolled up towel against the lordosis part of your back.

A goob book to read is Treat Your Own Back by Robin McKenzie. ISBN 0-9582692-0-3.

I also do the "hula hoop" rotation of hips (without the hula hoop  ) first thing in the morning
and then twice more in the day. Whilst doing this you can hear a "click" in the lower back area
(I used the pay a chiropracter £35 per 15 min session to get this effect then tried the hula hoop).

Carry out the above followed by trying to touch your toes holding the stretch. You might
again hear the click in your lower back. The click, so the chiropracter told me, is loosening
the stiffness in the lower back area which is the cause of most of the pain. It works for me.

Good luck fella, I've been there.

I have one. Both the back and neck parts.

Aside for it being solid wood, and a pain to store, it really does work.

I find that I don't use it much as it gets in the way. Works great, though, and you feel so much better. I'd say it was fantastic if you keep it up.

I often come in and think about it if I am feeling hunched up or sore.
