Wide fitting road shoes

Hi Guys,
I need some help. I have difficult feet (or foot, it is really only the right one!). I have wide feet but also have a high/ large big toe joint on my right foot due to breaking the toe a few times (hockey!). I therefore need a shoe with a large/ high toe box.
I was wearing a Specialized BG shoe (the entry level road one) but this is not ideal. My Tahos are fine but not very roadie )-:
I saved up and bought a pair of Northwave Typhoon SBS because discussion on here seems to suggest they are large in the toe box dept. but they are too tight/ small. I am a UK 11 and ordered the 46/12 but still too small.
So, should I try the Northwave in a bigger size? or is there a better manufacturer? I ruled out the Shimano/Sidi etc. as I thought they were all small fitting? No shops to try on around here unfortunately....

I've got two pairs of Northwave Typhoons.

I normally take 9 in normal shoes, really wide but short feet. Size 10 Typhoons fit me perfectly - so if you have normal length feet that are wide you'll probably find them too short.

I use Lake shoes, I find they are a lot wider than Shimano or Specialized shoes. And a lot more comfortable, just order your usual shoe size, no need to go for bigger with these. they are a bit hard to find though, Wiggle have some but but just in normal fit (which I use), they are available in a wider fit too though.

I had numb foot issues. Northwave vertigo in a size above my normal shoe size sorted this out for me - not that expensive either.

I use Northwave Revenge for road and Specialized mtb shoes, BG Pro, for my mtb. The Spesh have a bigger toe box but you'll need spd pedals

I am size 11 uk shoe size too but when I tried some DHB MBT shoe and got 46 ( some sites have them at size 11.5 ), I found them just a little to small and then got 47's Shimano MO75's, as the DHB on's had gone back up :(

I have the same problem as you and I did not want to buy anything on the net
My lbs had these and they are size 11 which I am and fit perfectly with loads of toe room

Only reason I took a photo of them was for my 365 1 photo every day for a year
