Don't cover your face. Just use a buff to keep your head warm. Then cover your face in Double Base! http://www.expresschemist.co.uk/product ... enser.html

Works for me. If it's really really bitter and dry use Vaseline instead of Double Base. This is unpleasant but works.
  • :D Morning to you to.

I just turn the buff every 5 mins or so given its a tube? The other bits dry quickly enough with the wind.

Do you ski? Same problem, surely?

Balaclava - too warm for all but the recent extremes, but you can pull them across your cheeks quite a lot, whilst keeping the neck and chin (and optionally mouth) covered). Although you still have an exposed face, its surrounded by warm - so its a lot better than you think once you get going. Forget the nose - its a gonner (although I have seen people with little scraps of material held over the nose by glasses in the past (xc skiing) - but anything which covers both your nose and your mouth will cause your glasses to mist up.

Greasing up does the job - Vaseline is your friend.

    Or this: http://www.tgstore.net/facewarmer-iii-p-2494.html

Or spray your face with Ralgex.

This is the best stuff I have found. Works on legs, face, arms well anywhere your skin is exposed.

I wear two buffs, one around my neck over my chin at the front pulled up at the back so it covers my ears and is held up by the other one that I fold over as a big headband to cover my ears with 3 layers. My mouth and nose are uncovered but it doesn't seem to matter with both buffs on. If I have either off though it kills.

Maybe it's a matter of keeping most of your face/head warm and blood will do the rest?

Not really, i leave the top of my head uncovered (apart from hair) for cooling.

Nivea lotion, enriched for dry skin (extra rich moisturising lotion) or

    Shea butter (no additives)

although I like MM's suggestion (just this once, mind)
