Hi guys, also posted this on avforums, but they ignored me last time I went on there!

I had an LG M227WDP for Christmas and it's been great (for 12 days!) but I'm worried that it's died on me.

It's stuck with a white screen, with a grey box containing the text "v3.02.0", (the firmware version?) scrolling along the top of the screen.

This appears as soon as I plug the tv into the mains. It does not respond to any inputs from the remote, or the buttons on the side of the tv itself. The only way to turn it off is to unplug from the mains.

I left it unplugged all night, plugged it back in this morning and the white screen pops straight back up.

Anyone know of anything I can do to get it working?

It's just got the aerial and a HDMI cable plugged in if that's important. I tried turning on the PS3 which is connected through the HDMI in the hope that the tv would detect a new signal, switch to it and come back to life, but no luck.

I want my HD back!

Can you get into the menu settings from the remote? If so try going for a reset.

I've got a friend who works at what hi-fi, I send him an e'mail and see what he says...assuming he's made it into work.

unplug the TV from the main, press the On/Off button and hold it down for over 10 seconds.
unlike unplug it over night, this will remove all the stored power within the hardware.

then plug the TV back and switch it on and see if that fix it. :)

that should reset the hardware back to the default manufacture setting.

Thanks guys. I'm at work now, so can't do anything.

It can be sent back, was from Amazon, but is obviously a PITA to do so.

I'll try the power button thing (actually, I'll text my brother and get him to do it!). It was already off mains power for 8 hours overnight, and I've left it unplugged again today.

  • Have you unplugged all the other cables (the HDMI and the aerial)? May as well take them out, have the TV as a stand alone unit, nothing else that can interfere with it. Soy-Sauce is right though, hold the power button.
When plugging things back in, do it one at a time, see if any of the cables/inputs are causing a problem.
Lastly, does it have a USB input? Maybe it needs a firmware update. Not sure if you can get one online and upload it onto the TV or not.
It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

I read something where you can use a smartphone, with software installed to get at the 'engineers menu'. I'll see if the power button thing works first though.
