Planet X Ti Road or Sportive

Ok guys, I'm gonna bite the bullit and get a Planet X Ti bike but not 100% sure which one.
The Ti Road matches my current Allez bike geometry pretty much to that mark and have never really had any comfort issues with it but only ever go to around 60miles in one trip, maybe bring the bars back a little...which probably brings in the sportive .
I'm mainly going to aim to get in more miles and am hoping to get a few sportives in this year. This and the fact that most people seem to be getting sportive bikes makes me think I should go down that route.
Am I really going to see much difference between the 2 with regards to comfort and speed? I'm not too bothered about mudguards mounts either.
Any thoughts much appreciated.

Hard to say but if you are going to be doing long rides then I guess the sportive makes alot of sense. You could keep the Allez & have the best of both worlds then.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

I have considered both options semi-seriously as well. I'm not sure if I'm going to hit the Checkout button because my PX Pro Carbon frame is almost brand new and there's really nothing wrong with it :-)
Anyway, the sportive frame sounds very tempting, especially because I have relatively long legs and a short torso. Both frames are probably very comfortable and the sportive is probably fast enough for a non-racing rider.0 -
this 'sportive geometry' thing is all a bit of a red herring in my opinion - as long as the geometry is right for you, it really doesn't matter if it is 'sportive' or not.0

I agree with this. I have an Allez too and run a few spacers and have my bars tilted up - because I'm not very flexible and I have long legs and a short body. So for me the Sportive geometry would be right for me - whereas the Pro-Road would be a mistake.
If you aren't running lots of spacers and you can easily get in the drops on your Allez- I would probably go for the Ti Road. If you want to sit more upright - then the Sportive might be better. They should both ride very well (plenty of happy customers on here).
Good luck.My cycling blog: http://girodilento.com/0 -

Well not really.
Sure you could replicate the position of one on the other, but the Sportive would still be the more comfy and the Road would still be the faster handling. The longer chainstays and relaxed geometry make this inevitable.
IMO the Sportive is a more versatile bike, mine suites me, long rides and Audax. If I was looking for an exciting ride, I'd go for the Road, though I probably wouldn’t be looking at ti anyway.0 -

The handling on the sportive is not very responsive at all. Not a problem for me.0
