Are my forks stolen?

It has just come to my attention, i think my forks are stolen. I have been checking out some Rock shox forks online and have noticed that on the rear of the uppers, there is a number printed on there.
When i bought my forks off of fleabay i noticed the said area had been filed. I didn't really think much about it as i didn't pay that much for them.
I have had two of my pride and joy's stolen in the past so i know how this feels  Knowing my forks may be stolen make's me want to get rid of them
I'll try and add some pics tomorrow.

There's nothing you can really do to make things right. You will never find the original owner, and the thief has already got your money. Unless you want to walk into a police station and admit to buying stolen goods, just keep on riding, and make sure the next things you buy are from honest people.0

As supersonic said...then the new owner might have painted it over, then sold to you.
If you bought in good faith and thought they were a genuine seller, there's nothing you can do. I'd be very different if you suspected they were stolen and still bought them!
If you still don't want them, Weeksy59 is first in line and I'll be second. Any chance of a discount because you're handling stolen goods? :twisted:CAAD9

The best indication that your forks are stolen is if your chin scrapes on the ground as you ride!0

Well, it's not like you can be sure of that... (not you, just in a general term )0 -
Not to worry i have sold them on,explained to the buyer about the number being filed off and he seemed happy enough to buy them.
