I am looking at upgrading the fork on my current Giant Trance to a RockShox Revelation 426 (09), whats the best wheelsets to get for use with the 20mm through axle??
i'm looking at taking it a bit more all-mountain in its abilities whilst still keeping the XC aspect of it all..
tyres of choice for the job as well??

Hope Hoops !!
Hope Pro 2 hubs that come with 20mm conversion and spare sopkes. The choice of rim is up to you. I've got DT Swiss EX 5.1d and not had to touch them in over 2 years. I'm a 15st lumper riding in and around the South Wales trail centers so I'm impressed with their strength. You can see the range of rims here : http://www.hopegb.com/voir_wh5.html
The EX 5.1d i think is now called the EX 500. The Stan 355 and Flows have also had good reviews. If you think you may want to go tubless then thats where I'd go (and will on my next set to go on my FS while a pt the old set on my HT).
Hope that helps.0 -
stans rims are very good, love my 355s. also theyre on hope pro2s which I can recommend as well.0

Hey RealMan what sort of riding are you doing on your 355's ?
Would they handle a 15st lumper riding Afan and Cwmcarn or wold i be better off going for the Flows ?0 -
I've riden alps, afan, and lots of normal local riding, as well as a bit of bmx track, and some urban and xc racing on my 355s.
But I'm 8.5 stone. Go for the flows.0 -

8.5 stone is just over 1 of my legs
Flows it'll be ! Cheers
You running them tubless?0 -
Yep, with conti rubber queens. No problems with leaking, and the tyres are bloody brilliant. Were very good when I went to afan.0

Stans also do the Arch rim which sits between the Flow and 355,which would sound ideal, but it seems Hope don't offer them as a package.
Just Riding Along may be able to do a custom build.

Don't really have a budget for this. I would rather pay the extra and get the best bit of kit for the job, if it means waiting in between components then so be it... Hadn't really considered going tubeless but given the opportunity it might be worth going for something that is ready for it... thanks for all the comments! big help..supersonic wrote:What budget?0

If money isn't a problem, get a 2010 Revealation.0

or even Fox F120. Get them serviced by Mojo and they will renew your warranty every year unless you miss a service. :-)
I do love my Rock Shox Reba's but love my new Fox TALAS just as much.0
