Has anyone used these at all ? I am looking changing from continental GP4000S to the Tufo tubular clinchers for racing as you can get higher pressures and a tub like ride from them, only I can't afford new wheels, tubs etc.

Any help ?

One person on here uses them and likes them (can't remember who.)

However, bearing in mind they've been around for a long time and hardly anyone uses them tells you a lot IMO.

Worst of both worlds. Heavy and when punctured need repairing like a tub...

It's dennisn who likes them. I asked him this question a while back:

He raises a couple of useful points. I expect he'll be in when it's time-band appropriate, to expound.

I tried them briefly - I punctured a couple of times in a few rides - and I had the goo in them. (these were the tubs though - not the tub clinchers)

I now use the GP4000S (both tubs and tyres) - much better and sturdier. And dont go OTT with the tyre pressures - more isnt always better. I run my road tyres at 90>100 max now rather than the 140 I used to. Ride is much better and punctures much much rarer. A continental mechanic advised me not to go over 100 - and he was right.

Don't think I can add much more than I said in the link you posted. I still use them and will admit they are a bit more expensive than regular clinchers but I like the ease of changing a flat, etc. They have caused me less problems that any other tire. Ease of mounting being the major advantage(as far as I'm concerned). Staying on the rim when you have a flat is another thing I like.
