Snow changes how you feel

Isn't everyone in a much better mood when it has snowed? People young and old having a great time and laughing together.
On the way in today I was hit in the head by a snowball thrown by some oik (who probably has an ASBO or similar) and all I could think of saying was "good shot" !! Had he thrown something when it was raining I would have been tempted to get off and leather him.
Anyone else notice this ? Got to be a benefit of this much snow.

    No.
    No they are not.

No. It was fun for about 10 minutes. Three weeks on with iced-up paths, pavements and side roads, with councils struggling to cope with maintaining A roads let alone B, it is starting to become a fecking nightmare.

One of the girls in our place managed to drive in and phoned too see which of the roads had the better grip which gave us time to prepare for her arrival. Four big kids, us, bombarding her with snowballs when she arrived, none of us hit her though but it brightened up the wait to be sent home :D
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

No. I'm sick of snowballs pelted on the windows. I'm sick of not being able to bike anywhere. I'm sick of the cold and.......

  • Snow definitely changes how squirrels feel - one just ran up to me, sniffed my boots, and started climbing up my trousers. I had to knock it off by the time it got past my knees - he's not having my nuts.

  • yeah its great being told to go home 2hrs after turning up for work at 7am risking it on the roads and that I wont get a full days pay. cant exactly go out for the afternoon on the bike, so i go out for a walk to the shops and get little feckers trying to hit me with balls of snow.

Of course snow is fun if you get a day off work because your work is shut down and it's fun if you don't have to go out, or drive, or when you can chose to go out for a walk then come home to a warm house. Snow is obviously less fun if your boiler has broken down.. or if you have an outdoor job - the guy sweeping snow from Asda's car park yesterday looked pretty fed up (and cold) to me!

Snow's ok whilst looking out of the patio window, sipping a single malt, in front of a roaring log burner. Other than that give me a warm summers day every time :)

Well that's better than last winter then cos back then it went down to 3 days.
  • Well, I'm still smiling today and having a bit of banter whilst getting in to work. My work doesn't shut down and I have to get in, so I make the best of it. Today meant a two hour commute by various buses, but I have cycled till now.
Suppose it depends if you are a glass half full person.

Your glass will be a bit over half full now its frozen and expanded.

It's been fun for a week but I'm happy for it to go now, it's frozen lumpy and unpredictable on the roads and I've got all the snow photos I want for another year.

My glass will be 3/4 full when I can lean into the corners again

    Cheer up.

On the radio this morning, the DJ read out a text message from a listener:

"Please tell the young lady driver in Lucan who gave me the finger that I was not trying to cast aspersions on her driving - I was merely trying to inform her that there was still a kettle on the roof of her car"
'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'

Me too! Spent most of the week either mucking around in the snow, running on the moors which look amazing, or in the pub with my skiving mates. Can't get out on the bike? Well I don't remember cycling in January being a whole heap of laughs anyway, so I can happily live with that :D
