SCR 4 OR SCR 3

On a recent new years plan with a friend we have decided to do the London to Paris bike ride single-handed, so without any other people on the trip aswell. I was looking at some other forums and gather that the Giant SCR 4 and 3 are very good starter bikes, but was wondering whether it would be worth spending the extra £100 or so pounds on the SCR 3 or just stick with the SCR 4.
