Yay.... it's just started snowing here, and it's fookin cold, so I'm going to bet it settles quickly :D
Could take me a while to collect enough snow to match that mighty example in the photo, but it's supposed to be heavy tonight and tomorrow, so I may well build one tomorrow.

You'll have it easier if you're down south, 1.5ft of snow expected apparently.

Everyone coming past this place is getting there cameras out to take pictures of the snowman pictured :D

yep, it's coming down quite nicely now :D
I'm so tempted to put my hope lights on my mtb and get out on the common........ but I'm not so sure that's a good idea on my own !

  • Never made a snowman in my life. Its much better to get 2 handfulls of it and compress it into a ball and throw at an unsuspecting mate and crown him in the back of the head with it  .

Bit old for that now but did have a proper snowball fight at my mates wedding in Knock, Mayo about 6 or 7 years ago.

Knocked this little fella together in a few minutes when I was in Rovaniemi before Christmas. Head was a bit heavy and was a bit tricky to get on, had to hold it one handed while climbing up the body  For scale my taller daughter is about 5' 2"!

There's a massive snow-penis on the central reservation near the Broadway pub in Oldham. It's childish, immature and made me laugh like a drugged horse.

House next door to us has a full size igloo in the front garden, complete with flag stuck in the top and what looks like a sleeping bag inside it!

I looked out of the window this morning and overnight someone had built an 8ft snowman in the middle of the mini round about near my house. Good work !!!! :D

Just cleared my road of snow with some neighbours, I know there's more on the way, but at least I won't have to contend with 6" of fresh snow on 8" of frozen solid snow.

I had to go to the shop this morning, so out came the snow blades....... what fun it was gliding effortlessly past everyone else :D

It's not that deep TBH. Doesn't it snow that often in Selby?

I think we had snow last year, but the deepest we've had in Selby area since since I was 6. Usually only get a cm or so.

I live in Selby area too (Hillam), that was why I knew your photos weren't of Selby: 4wd Merc in one of them, really!

In Feb of last year we had more snow than now, it all fell on 1st Feb, around 8 inches, but it thawed fast. This time, six inches and it isn't going to be above freezing all week according to the met office.

    Turbo it is.

  • There was a very good one on the darts programme this afternoon (yes, I am indeed "working" from home this week). Made in the parkland of the Frimley Green venue, it was covered in bling jewelry – apparently essential darts-player accessories.

Overheard conversation between dad and kid in next street.

Dad, "What are you using for the nose?"

    Son, "Carrot, silly".

Dad, "So what's the parsnip for....oh"
