Help me!

Been on it for about 2 hours. So far only bought mud guards but my wishlist is steadily growing. Can see me being a platinum discount guy before long! 8)

Prices can be good, you just have to be lucky.

I order from them usually beacuse they are so quick. I ordered something this afternoon, got email confirmation at 3.48, despatch confirmation at 4.28, and this is on the free delivery option too.

prices can be very good if you ask them to price match (which they do), use the £5 off £50 voucher you get every time you change your newsletter preferences, and save a further 4% using Quidco.

I got some M760 shimano shoes down to £39 from £59.

I shop around and will ALWAYS buy from the cheapest place - even if it's not a known shop.

It's surprising how many times Wiggle actually comes in as the cheapest place. But then, I do get the 12% discount. CRC rarely is a cheaper option. But I guess it depends on what you're after.

Wiggle's prices on groupsets in general are bad compared to say, Merlin or Fudge.

But have gotten some good deals on clothing and parts. Have even bought a complete bike from them. Like I said - it really depends on what you're after and even their prices on the day. CRC seem to change their prices every day so you really have to check them carefully!

I spend all day every day surfing the cycle shops and i`ve never heard of fudge.
I also haven`t seen a bargain on wiggle for a long time.

Fudges are my LBS, they have sold either my Dad or me every bike I have ever owned 8) They seem to be cheaper than everyone for sram.

The CRC chain is likely to be OEM (not a problem in itself, if they tell you, which they don't) so you are not comparing like with like. The retail chain comes with 116 links I believe, CRC's has 110.

Well I don`t think it`s worth paying another 16 quid for a box and 6 links that I don`t need. Although I did get one in a box once from Merlin, it was the same cheap price as CRC.

I got a 705 with cadence, HR and mapping and a free Garmin jersey for £330 from Wiggle in early December! I would say that was a bit of a bargain!!

I agree, and I often seek out OEM versions, but OEM is always going to be cheaper, so I don't think the comparison is entirely fair to Wiggle. Also, you may need 111 or 112 links, quite realistically, depending on the application. Incidentally, Wiggle do sell OEM stuff (I got some XTR SPD pedals for £50) but they always state this clearly up front.. Strangely, almost everything I have bought from Merlin has been OEM (forks with shorter steerers, hydraulic disc brakes with pre-cut hoses, KMC chains in plastic bags), so a boxed one is unusual.

Yes the boxed one was a surprise.

Fudge are cheaper than Merlin for Sram stuff. Some other stuff too. They sell a lot on ebay.

(And I surf every day and every NIGHT). I've found EVERY cheap cycle shop out there with a website.
  • Not bad at all. Although that one doesn't seem to have European maps, just UK and Ireland? I didn't want the jersey so I swapped it :)

The thing I hate about CRC is if they 'trick' you with their pricing.

Say you're looking for an Assos jersey. On the listings page it'll come up as £49. Then when you look inside for the options - you see that ONE jersey (the extra extra small yellow one that no one wants) is £49. All the other sizes and colours are £110. (Prices made up as an example).

JE James do the same thing often.

I'm a little annoyed at CRC right now as the mud guards I ordered on Boxing Day (which were in stock) still haven't shown up. Bad weather and holidays only account for SOME of that time!

    Have they been sent yet?
I got something today I ordered on 30th Dec. That`s quite slow for them.
I do find them to be very good, they`ve phoned me up a couple of times very quickly after I contacted them by fax.

They CLAIM they sent them last Wednesday (right after I sent them an email asking them to cancel the order). Said they had been sent out at 7:00am that day. Probably would have shown up today if not for the snow.

In that case you should be blaming the mail because they sent it out pretty quick. The earliest they could have sent it was Tuesday.

Do you get some sort of commission from CRC by any chance!!??

I was thinking Monday was business as usual. So yes - Tuesday WAS the earliest day they could send it out.

When it eventually arrives it'll be interesting to see if it was actually sent when they said it was.

My pre-Christmas order from them arrived within 2 days.
