Apologies if this has been posted earlier but I couldn't see any related threads here.

Does anyone else find the new traffic lights on the North side of Blackfriars Bridge odd. They appear to be for cyclists using the short protected cycle lane when heading North over Blackfriars Bridge or coming up from the Embankment before heading up to Ludgate Circus.

They are often red while the main road bit is green.

Is it me or should they be set the same or preferably not there at all.

Confused

  • I may have gone through on the red bike without realising yesterday - it never occurred to me that anyone would put a light there... I saw it this morning but its timed for the people who are coming up on the on ramp so it was likely fine yesterday too. But still - i'd like to meet the guy who thought that one up and have a discussion with him watching how that traffic flows.

Thanks for link to Real Cycling Blog.

I've raised it as an issue with TfL but won't hold my breath.
  • Unbelievable. Obviously put in as a response to the serious accidents that have occurred at that location, yet only in London could the attempted solution be of absolutely no benefit to the problem.
