Don't care what people think (oh yeah), I really like the look of Sunn Bikes - not to be confused with Sun Bike frames.

The prices are pretty high, though your getting exclusivity too I suppose...

Prices are ludicrous but i really like the look of them. They look a little similar to Commencal`s infact i`m sure Max Commencal had something to do with Sunn a few years back.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

The Prim Ti is mega expensive. The is a frame only option for about £1300 though which is reasonable. Who'd want all that SRAM stuff anyway?
The aluminium Prim frames weigh about the same as the ti and come in 3 built options, the S1 at £1700, the S2 at £1100 and the S3 at £760. Geometry of Sunn's hardtails is mega-good, they ride just beautifully - I've owned an Exact for the last 6 years and despite having Giant, Kona and GT accounts, can't find a hardtail I prefer.
    There's my Exact,

That first bike is a computer rendering not an actually photograph isn't it, or are my eyes buggered?

Would explain the fantasy tread on the tyres.

It's a render, a computer generated image, not a photograph. The over done shading on the tyre tread makes it look really beefy, but CGI is often not correct in the little details. Take a look at the actual photo posted by Steve_b77 above...

It's definitely not the same bike in the photo as the CGI image

You don't know what you are talking about. at 10lbs for the frame, their are many lighter. GT Fury is 8.7lbs.

But the point was the sus system is overly complicated and adds weight for little benefit over a standard canti arm and rocker.

just out of curiosity, isn't that a horst link style thingy next to the rear axle, rather than a single pivot + linkage?

It really looks it, and I think it is designed to look that way - but the wheel can only arc round that big main pivot.

    1264762075651-bo9h1i1pxjw9-798-75.jpg

All that gubbins and chainstay pivot are to actuate the shock. The claimed benefits are a rising rate and increased stiffness, but you can see why I say it is complicated for what is a monopivot design!

good point, should've spotted that- wasn't looking carefully enough for the way the linkages ran! interesting though, why should it be much heavier than some other linkage driven single pivot- looks not unlike the system on the commencal or the orange st4, just the other way up- extra pivots at the back and the need to split the seat tube seem to be the only complications from that standpoint. I wouldn't want to have to keep the bearings clean though!

Good enough for vouliooliuooios is good enough for me. I always wanted to have a go on the DH bikes he had just before he moved to c'dale. Damn fine.

£5k for a bike isn't hard to get to my shockwave is worth over that, not least cos of the £2k forks...
    SOLD!
