Hi. My dad and I are going to CwmCarn, this saturday (9/1/10) coming. Has anyone been here before. I have heared it is very good. Is there any perticular routes we should not do. I have heard a lot of good reviews on the Twrch Trail.

Your Oppinions please!

Cheers

the twrch trail is the only xc trail at cwmcarn, the others are downhill black runs.

i'd check that it's ridable this weekend as i know that it was still very icy up there with frozen snow aswell and as the weather is still bad it might not be all rideable. how long have you been riding? if it's not too long then i'd reccomend the penhydd trail at afan instead, but again, check the conditions :D

Cheers for that update mate. This would be my first attempt at XC with SPD Pedals! If it is "ICY & FRONZEN SNOW". I dought that my dad and I will be going this weekend. Port talbot is SNOWED in TODAY. I know this because my mam lives there, about 2 mins away from AFAN. So looks like no biking this weekend unless the sun comes out and drys everything up, and the "ICE and SNOW" goes.

    Cheers

i live fairly close to cwmcarn
i dont think it would be very rideable at the moment, but i wouldnt be surprised if the most dedicated of riders have manged to get around and ride a line into the snow, but its the ice thats the bigger problem, until it melts once and drains out a bit it will remain lethal, some sections were ok when i rode last week but we have had even more snow since.
i would go to Afan instead if i were you.
ile go up next week and see what its like, if its too bad ile just ride the DH tracks in the forests as they are more shelterd
Dont look at it-ride it! they are tools not f*cking ornaments
