Bike insurance

After some much needed advice.
With a family keen on cycling we have now amassed quite a collection of bikes in our (locked) garage. However, the problem of insuring them has arisen.
It would appear that many insurance companies will only insure a maximum of 3 bikes or for a total value of £1500. How have others gotten around this? With 6 bikes needing to be covered, what is the best (and cheapest) way of dong this?
Any particular companies better than others? Has anyone found home insurance that would cover this? Saw one quote for £500 and that was only for a total of 3 bikes!
Any help greatly appreciated.

Been looking into this myself. A guy that I work with had his bike nicked from his garage, it was insured as an extra on the house policy. The company got away with not paying as the bike was taken from the garage and not the house. Another work mate who used to be in insurance suggested getting garage contents insurance, might be worth looking into?My Amp Goes Up to Eleven

i am with churchill and had a claim settled up very fast last summer. not a theft but in the small print it states that you have to have your bike in a locked shed/garage or in the house. it doesnt mention having to have them locked while in the shed ect ect, but you do when leaving them somewhere else..No mention of special locks for when leaving them at a shop, work or pub. That is in the small print and also confirmed when I spoke to them. I have 2 bikes on ins 1 x £990 + 1 x £1500 bike for an aditional £36/year.
I have heard people say M&S are great but they werent competative for me to switch. Look at the AA too as I've heard they are good.fly like a mouse, run like a cushion be the small bookcase!0 -
