I ride with a pair of Scott road shoes in Look pedals. The shoes were about £80. On longer rides I start to get achey feet, esp down the outside of the foot. I have wide feet and these were the best fit.

My question is, if I went out and bought a pair of say Sidi Ergo 2's, would I notice a big improvement in comfort? Or are you just paying for flashy, light carbon soles?

It sounds like you may be more in need of a shaped insole or an orthotic to support that area of your foot..

I have 2 pairs of Sidi Ergo 2's and I wouldn't say that they were better shaped than other shoes. They are also pretty narrow in fit.

They do look the canine love blurbs though. :D

Sidis are not the world's widest cycling shoes, although I did have a pair of Sidi Technos a few years ago and they were great, even though I take a Clarks 'G' fitting. To be honest, nobody can answer your question apart from you - you really need to get to a shop and try a few pairs on.

Do Sidi still do their wide fitting shoes ? Mega I think they were called ?

I have wide feet and Specialized are much comfier than Sidi for me.

Its a personal thing. I like the Ergo 2 shoes, great feel on!
  • I was geting the same feeling after recently changing shoe brand, I found specialized bg orthotics solved the problem- £25.00 fitted, providing you've room in your shoes for the larger insole
