Buying a Giant Defy 2 and 'trying' to support local dealer

Hi,
I'm doing what a lot of noobs do and spending some Christmas dosh on a bike for New Year's, trying to get fit etc etc.
Now, I'm 6ft 7" so I need a large frame, and after doing a little research I fancy a Giant Defy 2 (58.5cm). With spending a reasonable amount of dosh I could obviously do with testing it, but nobody locally seems to sell them. There nearest place is in Wigan (40 miles) and they are called Winstanley's - with a bad reputation. What do you guys/girls do in a similar situation?
Cheers very much, Tim

I've used "Winstanleys" before but only for mail order and never had a problem with them. I'm in a similar position to you. Got to travel a little to get to a certain bike shop but in my opinion if you are spending a reasonable amount of cash then its worth getting the right advice on what you are after.0

Yeah, Blackpool's pretty shocking for bike shops. I might just sod it and buy one without testing...?0 -

+1 Mike is worth talking to. I haven't been in the shop for a while, but I would say that you need to make sure you get Mike. I was never a big fan of some of the other guys there.0 -
Ryan is v.good but Mike is the owner of the shop so go straight to the source.M.Rushton0
