Turbo Trainers

I will be buying a turbo trainer soon. I though I had my mind made up with a Kurt Kinetic Rock'n'Roll but have now stumbled upon the Tacx T1970 Cosmos Professional Ergo Trainer.
What I like about this is the ability to do low frequency pedaling with resistance, that will save me driving to a hill to do hill repeats - or will it?
Does anyone have this turbo, or any motorised resistance turbo?
Is is possible to do low frequency pedaling with resistance without the back wheel slipping on the drum?
Is motorised resistance as good as or better than fluid?
Cheers,
