What is your experience?

I got Virgin Media to reduce my telephone broadband package by 33% on a threat I was switching to BT !

rant: timesonline goes really far to ruin the superior image that the newspaper side has spent so long to build up. The idea of threatening to switch companies has been common place for years and often people who work in shops like phones4u/carphone warehouse (i.e. not direct tariff suppliers like Orange/o2) actually recommend and advise doing it. This article is the type of conversation I would expect to get down the pub with my mates......not on the website of a newspaper frequently crowned "newspaper of the year" [/rant]

On topic however......I did this with orange and ended up with the same tariff I had but for only £10 a month (previously had been £35), eventually changed to virgin with a mobile/broadband/home phone deal and will be trying this trick again when the contract comes to an end!

Done it with Orange for years, until I went with the iPhone & got no deal (other than keeping free broadband)
