Hey guys,

ChrisB from Extreme Circuits Scotland here. Its that time of year again where the focus for me is on the Strathpuffer 24hr mountain bike race up by Inverness .Jan 16th-17th http://www.spanglefish.com/Strathpuffer/
Looking at the recent weather reports it is going to be one of the toughest years ever. The Strathpuffer course is usually known for the mud but this year I would guess the snow will make the course even harder.
This will be the 3rd year I have been part of this fantastic event and of the previous 2 outings I have been part of a 4 man team. This year I am going for a solo spot so it'll be all the more interesting.

Anyone else braving the course this year ???

Unfortunately I can't do it due to work commitments but I know ´some mates who are going.
Will you call it off if it's snowing heavily or iced up?
  • KT,

Any details / updates will be posted on the puffer website . But they are a hardy bunch so unless you cant actually get to the course then I'm assuming that the race will go ahead.

Give me snow over mud any day.

  • At the moment there is around 15 inches all the way around the course. the forecast is for the snow to melt in the next few weeks, when that happens the course will become muddier than it was a few years ago when people were going through a set of brake pads every lap.

Advice, take plenty of brake pads and hope for snow...

what happened to the mountain-bike-scotland site? there used to be some good info on there with regards to the strathpuffer 24.
    Fancy a brew?
  • It bit the dust after the regular users of it tried to save it from collapsing all the time, someone clikced a button they shouldnt have and its dead now. for regular updates look at this thread on STW
