    Best: Kinesis at Cross frame
Worst: TBH, I can't think of a single regrettable cycling purchase in all of 2009.

Best Buy: Kona Jake for commuting around Portsmouth (It lives in my Portsmouth digs) and the Brompton for getting around base.

Worst buy: dhb amberly waterproof overshoes. They are not as waterproof as they claim to be!

    Best buys:

    Kinesis Decade Convert2
    FFWD carbon wheels
    Camelback Podium bidons

    Worst buys:

Italian Flag themed bartape... to much even for me.

Best buys - Lidl SPD shoes at £9.99 and Lidl base layers at £8.99 (i think) each for top and bottoms.
Worst buys - Shimano A530 pedals. Flat side is OK but SPD side is humped up and provides no knee support. Gone back to my worn out A520s until I can warrent another £30 to spend.
Genesis Croix de Fer - my new commuting mount
Saracen Hytrail - the workhorse - now pensioned off
Kinetic-One FK1 roadie - the fast one - hairy legs though!
Cannondale Jekyll Lefty MTB - the muddy one which keeps tipping me into gorse bushes!

I got A 530's this year and really like them. Been touring with them too, and find then really good.

I suppose it will be different for different people. With the 530s on, my knees started to click whenever I put on the power uphill. This got worse with miles and has caused pain while walking. Since going back to the 520s, the flatter platform holds my feet level and I have had no further problems.

  • Only really started late April / early May, so I've had to build up quite a load of new stuff this year.

Worst stuff? Aldi track and mini pumps. Utter rubbish, both of them, never used either of them more than twice. The track pump died on its second outing and the mini pump wouldn't go above 70 PSI, no matter how hard I tried. I have since replaced both. Don't get me wrong, the rest of the Aldi stuff I've bought has been top notch.

Best stuff? New bike :D obviously.

Best Buy - Ciocc Extro - amazing bike and I will probably never see another one!

Worst Buy - Shimano RO86 SPD shoes. Going from sockless comfort with specialised BG carbon soled shoes, to these floppy plastic soled horrors that cut (as in take off shoe and find once white sock now looking like the tdf king of the mountains jersey ) your feet even when wearing socks was a big mistake!

  • My best buy last year - Camelbak Podium Chilljacket water bottles. You taste what you're drinking, and it stays cold too. I am well chuffed. :)

The worse was, sadly, Michelin Pro Race 3s , which although very good tyres, are no match for the loose chippings on the relaid road surface in Richmond Park. So I can't believe I actually bought another set
