From riding... bikes that is.
Got the new Commencal Super4 and been out the last 2 days on it. Today was the first time i've got on the bike and it's hurt to sit down LOL.
The seat is an SDG fly and seems a little firm.
The last was a standard Hardrock seat.
So what's on the list within a £40 budget.
I know the Charge Spoon gets good reviews and mate has one and is comfy on it.
Any others ?

My bontrager saddle on my trek fuel is quite hard and although I'm used to it now its not what I'd call comfy to sit for any length of time.
would one of these suit a boney back end like mine?
anybody with a slim posterior swapped to something like this?0 -
My Charge spoon is nice and comfy, but before you go replacing the saddle, consider that maybe it's just your ars getting used to the different shape.0

You wearing decent padded under shorts? I had some cheap DHB ones were ok, changed to some Altura Gels, wont ever touch the DHBs again they made a hell of a difference.0

Give it some time, my WTB Silverado felt horrible to begin with, but I don't mind it now. I think saddles benefit from a bit of breaking in.0

Then get some padded lycra's, you just wear baggies over the top. It helps so much0 -

PLUS - You shold find a LBS near you that has them to demo. WTB like their dealers to have a set of demo saddles for people try on your own bke before you buy. :-)0 -

There's your problem then. You might as well just rub a piece of nylon rope vigourously between your thighs and nut-sack.... :shock:0 -

It's not a friction pain. It's also not been there for last 18 months.

It still won't help - it's the chaffage, your ring piece probably looks like a blood orange and you're heading for piles.
Get some decent padded shorts. You'll thank me for it eventually.0 -

I never wear padded shorts, can't see any need myself, but ymmv. But the Charge Spoon is very good, and also you can sell one in good condition for about what you pay for them new, due to the weirdness of Ebay, so it's no risk.Uncompromising extremist0

Question is, have you tried a pair? If you're going to spend a while in the saddle it makes a helluva lot of sense.
They're kinda like Pringles - once you pop, you can't stop.0 -

The padding doesn't just help with comfort, the pad wicks away sweat and is usually anti-bacterial meaning less chance of saddle sores.
Use them in conjunction with a good chamois cream and you are in bike heaven!0 -

Yes, I have, fairly nice Altura ones. Gave it a few tries but it made no difference to me except for feeling weird, so can't see any need. Not that I'm some sort of incredible iron man riding through the pain or anything, I just have decent shorts, undies without a seam up the middle and a saddle which fits me so there's no discomfort to pad against.Uncompromising extremist0
