2005 Bianchi Liquigas

Hey all, Basically. My friend has been offered a 05' Banchi Liquigas frame with Ultegra and Mavic Askiums for £550 ono. Having only just got into cycling recently I can't give any adivce, and my quick search of the net gave nothing back!
Frame - Rear triangle carbon. Assuming the rest is alloy?
I would also assume the groupset/wheels are the same from the dat it was purchased. Anything to look out for on the 2005 year's versions of these? Also, Does anyone know how much this bike retailed for?

I would imagine the frame is a Via Nirone 7 alu/carbon in Liguigas colours/logos. This is the bottom of the range frame (but still decent). The frame may be also be a Bianchi 1885 (the next frame up). Either way, the forks will be carbon with an Alu steerer tube.
The wheels are probably not the originals, since either bike was shipped with Shimano wheels of some form.
I've not used Askiums, but they seem to be reasonably well regarded, if a little heavy.
The Ultegra kit you mention is pretty decent and reliable stuff. It won't be the latest version but that's not really a problem functionally.
I paid £1300 for an 1885 with full Ultegra, including wheels in an Evans sale around 2005, if that helps. I think the retail was something like £1600.
I can't work out from your post whether this is a new old bike or a second hand machine.0 -
dont know the bike in question but an alloy frame with carbon forks and stays, ultegra groupset and mavic askiums for £ 500.00 seems reasonable -...the bicycle is the most efficient machine ever created: Converting calories into gas, a bicycle gets the equivalent of three thousand miles per gallon...0

Thanks for the responses guys. In terms of use, the bike is second hand. Being sold as it isn't getting used at all. Will get hold of the picture this evening.Road: Felt AR0, Di2

I reckon that sounds a bit more like it, or maybe 400. Looks rather dated really.......winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

I have one but an FG lite version! Not in those exact colours though mine has more Celeste. The Via Nirone were about £875 new with Mirage gruppo. Mine has Campag and Campag Neutron wheels, I used it in the Alps this year did some mileage on it and it is a nice bike, though dare I say a harsh ride. I am used to full carbon now and even though it has a semi-carbon rear and carbon forks I felt every ripple and bump there was, it was not a relaxing ride. Tracks well and the frame feels comfortable on climbs and downhills.
My frame looks like this one, not exact spec

Which is one of the various Ltd Edition (!) bikes they did for this team here. I think?

£550 ono seems a little high IMO. It seems half decent, but it's also half a decade old. In cycling terms that's hugh.
Your freind should ride it first, and if he likes it, haggle?"I spend my petrol money on Bikes, Beer, Pizza, and Donuts "
