2010 Targets

Ok so as 2009 draws to a close what cycling targets have you all set for yourselves for 2010?
For me 2009 was hit and miss but still an improvement on 2008.
Distance wise I want to do at the very least 500km per month. Considering I only cycle at weekends this should be achievable, however as we all know it only takes 1 or 2 missed rides and your targets can get blown out of the water.
As for sportives i have a few in mind but to be honest want to concentrate on increasing my distance, speed and stamina.
Fingers crossed will have a mild January and February

Simple really, climb back on the bike and endevour to "grow into" a slim-fit shirt Mrs tank bought me for chrimbo by losing between 1.5/2-0stones. That, and have a Birmingham hip operation and survive that.
So given my low lack of morale at the mo it's gonna be tough, but I'm sure the Mrs will prod/poke and take the p1ss enough for me to get off my fattening @rse and do sommat about it.Tail end Charlie

Last 7 weeks have been hell with one illness after another.
For 2010 I certainly want to avoid being so susceptible to infections. Also need to gain back the fitness that 7 weeks off the bike have lost.
2009 was a great year for my fitness. Rode just over 4500miles average of 19.1mph.
Goal for 2010 is the Alps and the Marmotte. Like to get a decent time in.0 -
2nd Cat.0

Just ride more miles next year, which is a consistent goal of mine and something I've achived every year since promising that I would. It's a great motivator in weather like this, case in point yesterday, I went out purely because I was getting close to doubling last year's mileage.
Not interested in racing or sportives either really, though I will probably get persuaded to enter one or two. I'm off to the Alps in July so hopefully I'll tackle some alpine passes.0 -

2009 was a good year until I was knocked off my bike in October. I managed:
- 6 rides over 100k (did six over 100 miles)
- 3 laps of Richmond Park in under an hour (57.47 in March)
- 1 ride over 100 miles (did one over 200k)
Didn't manage to manage to meet my 6,000 miles for the year target though as I have been off the bike since October. I will probably keep the same targets this year as last year. I started the 2009 season being reasonably fit, but after not being able to ride for so long I am fat and unfit so it is going to bar far more challenging in 2010!0 -
This year i rode 17,243Kms and want to go as near as possible to the 20,000 as i can for 2010.

To ride over 5000miles this coming year. That would be easy if I had any motivation. If I was in Norfolk with my friends again, I'd beat that easily. I've worked out that 4 days a week at work and a 60mile+ ride at the weekend would do it. Now all I need is motivation.
Also, get a motorbike. I have my licence, but after a crash in August, I haven't ridden. Mind you, if I get a motorbike that could be very bad for cycling motivation.... :twisted:jedster wrote:Just off to contemplate my own mortality and inevitable descent into decrepedness.
FCN 8 off road because I'm too old to go racing around.0 -
This year was my first go at the 100 km per month challenge and while not unhappy with my total I hope to do better in 2010. I may also have a go at the RPTLC which I skiped in 2009.
In short I intend to do more cycling , on and off road.

My goals are much the same as last years: a bunch of 200km audaxes.
Last year was a washout due to being totally disorganised. Hopefully I've got it sussed now and I'll be able to ride more regularly.
If I can fit a 100km ride in before the end of Jan I might do the Metric Century Challenge. I hope to be doing at least 1 x 100km ride a week from March.
I've got my eye on a 300km audax, but I'll leave deciding on that until nearer the time.A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject - Churchill0 -
