I need a shed for mine and sons bike and have been looking at the wicks shed £129

http://www.wickes.co.uk/Bicycle-Storage/invt/187794

or the BillyOh which can be had for £170 ish, but I have amazon vouchers so it would be £182 delivered.

Has anyone seen both of these?

Is the billyoh worth the extra. It's more about the build quality than security as I ive in a quiet area.

Look around for a local builder, you will often be able to spec a build, and see the quality of the shed before spending your readies, many of the mail-order type sheds tend to be built with the equivalent of pine cladding

I reckon it's something you have to see first. I bought a B&Q 'bike shed' only to find when I had built it that it only took adult bikes it you removed the wheels. So then I bought another, very simaler to the Wickes one, which I can just about get 3 bikes in if I turn the bars side on, but it is paper thin and was a bugger to build.

In summary- you pay for what you get! Make sure you meticulously measure everything too- you'll only find it isn't big enough once it is made.

If I had my time again I would have spent a bit more and got something decent- like the Asgard sheds reviewed here.

    Happy building!

    Hi mate,

Im a builder buy trade and have been fitting, making, basically doin the whole shed thing for years, looked at both sheds you have listed and i would go for the billyo one buds the little wicks pis*ant one will in my opinion be too small and quality looks poor, dont buy an overlap timber shed as again pis* poor quality and easy to break into, the 8x6 natural store shed that mateyboy recommends looks a good solid shed, ideally you want a tongue and groove shed as the timber laths that make the panels click into eact other thus making them loads stronger, another tip would be when you fit hinges use coach bolts instead of the screws as these go all the way through the timber door frame and tighten with a nut (much stronger) you could go as far as buying some 4x2 and bracing your new sheds existing door frame just to give it a bit more strengh, get your money out mate!!!

  • Thanks for all your comments and advice chaps....I think I'll go with the Billho as it looks OK and I've got an amazon voucher to spend. I'll definitely use bolts on the hinges instead of screws.

I have the billy oh one. It comes with a 10 year guarantee so you can't really go wrong.
Is farily flimsy feeling until it is built up when it beceom fairly solid. I''ve shelves in each end and I'm surprised by the amount of sh|t that I can get in there!

    I'd recommend it!

What would this be like, security wise, to house two bikes & a few gardeny bits?

obv i would board up the window, and install a few locks, and its in a walled yard with locked gate / high wall.

any thoughts on that shed would be good, as its the perfect size / shape to fit into a slot in the yard.

  • I'd say ring them and see if the will do it without the window.

The window isnt a major issue, as that side will be up against a wall :)
