wow, nifty, I think 14 days x 2 would equal a lot of balloons0 -

As I said before I carry a foam silver windscreen shield or at most a chopped up foam roll because they are light and good enough.Raleigh Eclipse, , Dahon Jetstream XP, Raleigh Banana, Dawes super galaxy, Raleigh Clubman

I would add a recommendation for Avior 3 - great tent - special offer on Yeomans Outdoors.
Interested to hear about lightweight touring. I have a Hewitt Audax and my son has an old Peugot Ventoux racer but with big tyres on it. We can both put racks on but I've been shy of considering cycle camping on these for fear of putting too much strain on rear triangle and wheels. Is the general feeling that two panniers on the back of each could work?0 -
lightbulb, I'm attempting to load 2 bags + tent on a roadie, which has been done (see pictures above), so I'd imagine (assuming your weights aren't high) then it should be easily possible on an audax, not ideal but better suited than a racer!
Again, thanks all for the suggestions, I have a Super Tourist DX Rear Rack & Ortlieb Back Roller Plus Panniers in the post!
After some more advice, what pump?
I need something light, complete with gauge that can dependably reach 115psi, my current rescue pump isn't good for anything above 40odd psi.0 -
How about the Bontrager Air Support Road Pump?0
-
or top peak pocket rocket - I have this and like the bonty weighs nothing and goes to 160psi

Thanks for the suggestions, thinking of going with a Topeak Road Morph, as it has a gauge or might consider one of the above and buy a gauge if it works out light/similar cost!

Will have to update this thread in a few days when my M-Part seat post clamp mount arrives, my rack couldn't fit around my breaks but my bike should be tour ready soon.0 -
Here's what I do to tour with tent, bag, mat and cooking gear at 10kg of gear. I also give some recommendations on how to drop a few pounds.

Thanks, that's most impressive, I already feel that I'm a little heavy, just fitted these, need to pack them and see what they come to!
Excuse the poor quality...

Good idea, I've got a few spoke keys, those wheels are due to be replaced before the trip. Don't trust them, my wheel thread is here..
