sram chain with ultegra groupset?

I come from a mtb background and always use sram chains as they are easier to split/join and don't require special pins to join them etc...

Is this the same with road chains?

I am building a bike with an ultegra groupset (although fsa chainset) and I'm pondering which chain i should use...

So sram and shimano....are they compatible?

I have been running SRAM chain with ultegra mech and cassette and FSA chainset with no problems at all.

The 10spd Links on SRAM chains are singleuse only, unlike the 8/9spd which are multiuse.

If you want reusable links, KMC or Wippermann are the way to go.

all good advice. shimano chains are compatible with kmc joining links. multi use as well. but get a new one when you get a new chain. also kmc only make chains so all their effort goes into them. they have experience making motorcycle chains as well. some say they are the best. i think they also supply some of the shimano chains.
