This was also partly behind my thinking! Have 2 pairs of candys needing a rebuild in the shed! But, did get a good stint out of the pair I always use! Will sort them and then have them as spares! Ideal to be able to use cb's cleats on either! (Will get used to them firat then swap back to the cb's cleats! )Timmo.

Thanks guys! Absolutely love the bike, can't get enough of riding it! Isn't built to be the lightest build but to withhold a good thrashing by my lardy butt!
Waiting for my braided gear cable kit to arrive to match the brakes, but was at the lbs when one of the reps was in and got a pack of 10 coloured cable ends! So had to have Red! Wahoooo! I'm such a tart lol!
Was going tp put on new XT M770 shifters but had second thoughts as was no real advantage over my current XT shifters! Really want xtr for yber bling factor! 8) 8) 8) but not sure if I can justify them!
After that, it'll be pretty much finished! / how I want it!! I think!!!!!!!Timmo.

I'm really quite taken with that Timmo 8)
How do you find the 130mm forks compared to 100mm ?0 -
Al! how you doin matey!
the 130's are an amazing difference! bike just feels so right on them, just gives so much response when you need it to, is nice to know that you have the travel there if you need it,
i ran my old bombers at 120 on it and they were briliant over the old 100's but these are just that bit nicer, has that bit more of an edge,
absolutely Love riding it!!Timmo.

Arsecakes, I knew you were going to say that.
I quite fancy robbing the Stumpy, ebaying the frame and building up a Cotic.
If 120-130 forks are the way to go, my Foxes are coming uo 30mm short, so I just as well sell the Stumpy complete and start a fresh.0 -
they are a good bike on 100mm forks, but just not as good as on 130's!Timmo.

fitte dnew jagwire switch cables today (outers only) and decided on the M770 xt shifters, - glad i did too as they are quite an upgrade form the old M752's!!
cables were pretty much purely for aesthetics!!!! but in fairness, they are very nice cable kits!
(need to sort a couple of foot of braided cable for the travel adj. on the forks though!)
and so you can see both sides!! 8)
chuffed overall, the new shifters are silky and lovely form the old ones, and the cabes look great (imo!!)
sadly though, think thats close to beiong done!! got it pretty much how i like it 8) 8)
had a good blast on it today, albeit a quick short one but just makes me smile every time i get on it!Timmo.

oooh, figured best add the last few upgrades on!!!
nothing really major, just an upping the grunt of the brakes from classic mini's to M4's! 8) all helps with stopping when your 100kg's!
front
rear
wussed out and gone back to 22t granny after Murdering my legs with the 26t!!
also been playing with bars!! thanks to on-one and only £15 a bar, has made it a lot cheaper!!! 8)
gone form original K-Force 635mm bars to Fsa Gravity 680mm which was somewhat of a revelation on feel! but after a lot of tweaking and positioning felt they werent quite right so grabbed a set of Fsa Gravity 710's to play with! 8) yet to test due to health, but feela Great sat on it in the shed!
a sneaky pic with the 680's after a session down the mining waste lands!! and also visable, new easton EA70 post! 8)
and gratuitous pic of the Soul with my good mates Cannondale Chase after a partial rebuild and weight shedding exercise!!!
keep thinking about wheels, but! the ones i have whilst not the lightest at 2kg, are Great and take a Real hammering from my lardy But!!
keep saying i think its finished which really i think it is, but am sure i can always fiind more bits to add! 8)Timmo.

about 25/26lb, ive built it as an almost go anywhere and do most things bike, only thing holding it back is me haha!! - its also build to withstand my 100kg lard bouncing around ontop of it!!!! - without sacrificing too much! could be a couple of lb lighter if i went light wheels, tubeless, lighter bars, post, saddle, thinner bash ring, rear cassette (slx at te mo)
but for what it would cost would take some of the fun out of riding it!!
i absolutely Love the way it rides, its so flingable and fun, Inspires confidence and also takes out some of the harshness of alloy/carbon frames! would High;y recommend it to anyone wanting a fun bike!!Timmo.

Wahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! My new wheels are here!
happy happy boy!
had the call from the boys yesterday to say they had arrived down the shop, got held up eating cake and drinking tea at one of the mums after school so couldnt get down till today,
first impressions are they are silly light!!! and very nicely put together, lovely red annodized hubs and singular red spoke!
pictures!!
inserts on the hub body to prevent the cassete chewing it up!
has saved a pound off the wheels from the old ones and have now taken littluns tag along hitch off too as that weighed a ton lol! hoping to get out for a test ride tomorrow but on the bike they spin forever!! very pleased!!!!Timmo.

just rides So beautifully, Love it, every time i look at it in the shed hanging on the wall makes me smile!! desperate to get out and give it a Hooolin!! 8) 8) 8)Timmo.

OOoooh! I've got close to a Years worth of updates to do!! Eeeeek!
Okay so since then, wider bars, much wider! :-D the fsa carbons were 635mm, tried soe 690, okay but not enough, put some 710's on for a good 6 months, finally settled on 740's, superstar grips, the bigger ones, red collars, Sram pg 990 cassette with red spider, kcnc jockey wheel bolts, replaced Xtr rear mech, have also replaced 90% of the bolts with colored versions! Stainless in 6 variations for the rotor bolts!! All the mech bolts are coloured red, gold, purple and blue! And bar clamps for shifters and brakes are red too! :-D Massively OTT but I Love it!
Has been getting a Lot of abuse and is no shed queen, but is Such an awesome bike to ride it would be cruel to do such!!! Will upload some recent pictures dreckly!!
Have reverted back to the Spoon saddle too after breaking the rail on the belair! :-( is much comfyer though!!Timmo.

Haha! I'll sort them tomorrow fella! Realised this eve I hadn't done any of the updates! :-D
Just replaced the bb as the bearings had gone, trying to find the replacements was a pita so grabbed another bb of ebay, will get the spare bearings for it dreckly!
Have been discussing on the cornwall mtb club fb page over the virtues of a good hartdtail over a full susser! :-D the short travel rear suss feel the Soul gives still makes me smile every time!
I did say, if ever I got to the stage the bike needed to be replaced then it would be done so with another soul!Timmo.

Right! Update time!!!
hae been going through the photobucket to get the pictures in order, so here goes!
not a great mass of big updates post the wheels, but, tyres changed to tubeless versions, and with that the American Classic tubeless valves! uber blingy anno. red!! but light as they are, fragile!
had 2 valves go on me during re inflating!
Saddle rail on the SDG snapped too resulting in a very strange feeling whilst riding along!! so now gone is the pimp aligator style perch and back to the Spoooooon!!
replacement XTR rear mech at long last!! 8)
Dutifully fitted with the KCNC's, also fitted kcnc jockey bolts too,
new 750mm bars Expertly modeled by my littlun!!!
fitted
new Sram PG990 in Redwin
bike cleaned and retaped!
additional and appropriate sticker added and taped!!!1
discovered a nice company that does coloured bolts in both alloy and stainless, got a little carried away! hahah!
also fitted a middleburn breakaway bolt too (and also the cable clamp bolt on the mech is changed to REd!!)
have also changed the bolts on the shifters and brakes on the bars too, only about a dozen bolts in total ive not changed now! (stem bolts, caliper mounting bolts, and oneof the guys suggested the saddle rail clamp bolts too!!! :-D )
changed the granny for a blackspire 24t in red too,
bit of filth from fortnight back mid week in the woods!
picture from post ride last sunday!!
its no shed queen bike and gets abused at every opertunity, very much like to keep up with the full suss guys in the club when going in a downwards direction too, much to many's dismay! just Love riding it, every time on it gives the smiles!
chucked on some new superstar excell grips (i think was them?? the thicker ones), rebuilt the master cylinders and chucked in new pads too , am sure there are a few more odds and ends ive missed but you get the idea!! i think its pretty much done finished now too! ive no idea on weight of the bike, but low 20's ish, 22lb ish maybe?/ might get it weighed at somepoint but am in no rush!! i'd only get upset and try for lighter bits then and that Would be costly hahahah!
The bike tart has Tarted his bike!!! 8) 8) 8)Timmo.

Thanks fella, the bolts come from www.gwr-fasteners.co.uk they have an ebay store inder the same name,
They are a Great lil company in wales, Super helpful, I emailed and asked for different numbers of bolts to those they listed and in different colour combo's and they had no issues at all! Infact most of the orders arrived the next day!
On their facebook page should be an image of my mech with all the shiny bolts! :-D 8)Timmo.
