Suitable calipers for VN Yukon or Sabbath September

I'm looking to get myself a new titanium frame and after much deliberation, and looking at a lot of information on this forum have decided on a Sabbath September or a VN Yukon.

Being a campag fan I've also decided to go for a Centaur Carbon groupset.

However... am I correct in understanding that the skeleton brakes will not fit and 'long reach' calipers are required? If so, can anyone recommend a suitable alternate set of brakes which are compatible with the levers please.

Many Thanks.

    The pre-skeleton brakes were a bit deeper, alternatively you'll have to look at Tektro or that other make..
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Spit it out, man.... SHIMANO....S-H-I-M-A-N-Ohhhhhh... :wink:

    I have a Yukon with Shimano Ultegra 6700, it uses Shimano R650 brakes.

    I am not a Shimano lover, either. I thought I'd give the new stuff a shot, but wish I'd stuck with SRAM :D Still end up with the same brakes, though :(

    Tektro or possibly have a look at Miche calipers, which I think are longer reach. Personally I have the Tektros, just get better brake blocks.....

    You could file the slots a bit deeper, as shown at the bottom of this thread;

    Or, buy a Planet X Ti Sportive instead;

  • Hi. thank you for the replies. I currently have some 2005 veloce calipers which might do the trick with some minor tweaking!

    i've had a look at the shimano R650s as mentioned above, and they look quite neat and are reasonably priced as well.

    The fatbirds.co.uk website also has a few options including VNs own offering of long reach brakes, plus some ambrosio momentums and the tektros.

    So, plenty to choose from :o)

    I specced the R650's over the VN jobbies from Fat Birds, no real reason, just a bit more in keeping with the 6700 groupset.
    Work very well, after the pads were scrubbed in :shock:
