Hi guys
I would like to convert my old 1994 mountain bike to suspension forks from rigid forks
I just love my bike and if I could upgrade the forks it would make such a difference
The current rigid forks are a 1" diameter, 127mm long, 40mm thread length steerer tube and the handlebars fit into the forks via a quill system
Is it possible to put suspension threadless steerer forks in or are there limitations due to the frame
If poss what happens to the top ball race crown bit, which at the moment screws down and tightens up the forks in to the frame
Any advice is most appreciated and if possible could links to shops be provided so I know where to buy them?

You'll need a fork with a 1" steerer. I think that'll be hard to come by. Additionally you'll probably find most forks you can get hold of are longer from hub to crown so they'll throw the handling, more so than putting sus forks on a newer frame.
Sorry for the voice of doom, but good luck.0 -
You can get the forks!!!!

But honestly keep it as it is and get another bike it only makes sense. You could spend £300 on swapping it over with new headset, stem, bars, spacers and brake cables. This would be better spent on something newer0 -

dont bother unless the old forks are suspension corrected or the bike will feel very different.
but new fork, new headset, new stem and maybe new front brakes."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
