  • Beautiful.
  • looks like its going to be a little beauty!!
  • Should be very nice mate. Some similar bits to mine including the saddle, only into a masterpiece in my case, had to do a bit of squeezing on the rails to get it to sit in the groves. Don't know about you.

Hi Adam, yes I had the same problem too. Not sure how comfy the saddle is going to be for me though. might have to swap it out for an SLR.

Wheels: Stans ZTR Olympic on Hope Pro 2 hubs, DT Revs and blue alloy nipples:

Build should be finished in a few days hopefully. Just got to wait for this snow and Ice to go away so I can go out and ride. :(
  • How do the magura's feel? They look pretty good!

How light are they in comparison to competition? I'm after some white brakes for my build and they look just the ticket!

    What are the levers like?

they are about £210 for the front, about £250 for the back. if you can afford that then why not but if i were you i would check out avid elixir 5 which stevet1992 has on his bike.

The Magura's have been verified (not by me) at 341g a set. The rotors are claimed 103g (160mm). They come with Ti bolts. Changing the rotors and bolts and trimming the hose to length could get them down to around 300g each I guess.

The new Hope Race brakes that are due out in a few weeks are meant to be 275g each and retail at 50quid cheaper each. Current Hope Pro X2's are 295g each.

The Magura's are powder coated white so the finish doesn't look as good as Hope CNC work. But that's my personal taste.

The levers feel more comfortable than my Hope Mono's. I have to ride the bike properly before I can say for sure how they feel/perform on the trail.

Edit: Another pic to show the levers:

jay12: I picked these up for just over 200 each. Seeming as the Hope Race brakes retail at 200 each I didn't think it was too bad.

Looks good, I would have expected more bling on the hubs though, Hopes are a bit dull! Blue too, not sure about that!

looking really nice. but i would have gone for red hubs to go with rthe brakes

    Thanks :)

I did consider for some time other hubs like I9, Chis King and DT Swiss but I'm not a convinced these other hubs are significantly better than Hope. I've been running Hope hubs for about 10 years. In that time I have ridden a lot of muddy and wintry conditions and only ever had to replace the pawls in my Hope Pro 2 once and my Hope XC once. The last time I heard my old Hope Suspenion/Ti Glide hubs were still going strong some 8 years later. It's that sort of durability I like. 8)

If anything it will be the red on the brake levers that will be going. The proper rear skewer should be here tomorrow. :P

Hmmm yeah, I'd have got 240s. Or a blue King headset to match the hubs if you don't like the red bits!

Never said i didn't like the red bits. Subtle tones are fine. ;)

I do have a nice blue Acros headset on my Heckler I could swap across.

I'll probably swap the stem out for something lighter and longer and probably use some bigger tyres depending on the trail. Might swap out the gear casing for either Yumeya or Alligator mini I-links. Undecided yet. I'm not sure if I will keep the 11-34 cassette. I think 11-32 will be enough but I'll see how I get on.
