Hi

Santa brought me some nice Zipp carbon bars from the PX sale

I have carbon forks and a conventional Oval stem

Is this likely to clash or worse still get me laughed at?

Not that I care what others think of my fashion sense but Im guessing that most people with carbon bars probably have a carbon stem too and if so is this for vanity or is a full carbon fork/bar/stem combo the default option for good pragmatic common sense reasons?

Cheers!!

    Wow!

Noob on internet community makes a technical faux pas and gets an unhelpful comment from an individual with a 4 figure post count

    Thats never happened before
  • It should be fine, assuming both bars and stem are 26mm.

Don't worry about NapD he's a bit of a noob too

there's no practical or technical reason why carbon bars need to be combined with a carbon stem... Plenty of non-carbon bikes run a carbon seatpin, for instance...

Your alu stem is probably as stiff and as light as many of the carbon stems out there.

Most carbon stems are heavier than their Alloy counterparts, but carbon stems are usually loads stiffer.
