Perhaps its been asked a million times but new products keep appearing and folks views always differ. I want a pair of tyres (dont have to match) for winter XC but what I don't want are grippy fat slow ones, somthing around 2.1that offer a level and grip and speed difficult I know but experience's and views always welcome. :)

Last winter tyres I had were a pair of Panaracer Fire 2.4s metal bead (never again) very grippy but hard work and slow.

I run Bontrager Mud X Folders, I have been amazed by their grip in almost any condition and rolling speed is pretty good for big tyres too. The larger size is just right imho - not too fat. Gonna ride these right through winter until the conti's can come back out to play.
