I have a very low Budget of £100.00 to purchase some Winter Essentials.

This is the kit i allready have:-

Altura Flourescent Waterproof Jacket
Flourescent Windproof Jacket
Goretex Bibbed Leggings.
Shimano Clipless Shoes
Altura Overshoes

Last winter i was riding with the Waterproof jacket on and a t-shirt underneath even when it wasn't raining, as the Windproof Jacket was too cold.

I'm thinking of purchasing this (as it has good reviews):-
Endura Fusion Soft Shell From
£76.99

However, that will eat into my £100 considerably, and i was then going to get these:-

To go under my Gortex Leggings, do i need these under the leggings? The leggings aren't waterproof and they aren't that warm either, especially not in sub zero temperatures like we are experiencing at the moment...

I wanted to get a base layer for my top section also but don't think i'm going to be able to fit that into my Budget...

as you've already got two jackets, i'd say get a long-sleeved base layer rather than another jacket

t-shirts are not good, as soon as they get damp they will chill you and they take ages to dry

brynje's super-thermo long-sleeve tops are very good, but hard to get hold of in uk - price/postage is a bit steep from overseas

cyclelogic.co.uk sell in the uk for c. £40 but limited stock

they are mesh-construction, so there's far less chilling by conduction if you get damp, and they dry fast

then if you still need more, you can wear a thin long-sleeve over the base layer (like a craft pro zro for instance)

at -3 i'm very warm with the brynje plus a thin long sleeve under a windproof

for the legs, if the gore ones are snug then putting another layer underneath could get really uncomfortable, i'd tend to use leg warmers

haven't tried these ones, but the reviews are good and they say waterproof...

Check out http://www.sealskinz.com/ socks. I got a pair. They are brilliant. You can stand in the river and keep waterproof, warm. Merino and technology combined. They keep my feet warm and waterproof blasting through the cold at the moment.
