  • Suppose they panic'd and couldn't control the car so jumped to safety.

and almost go under the wheels!

Cars are designed to crash safely. Humans are not!

  • Saw this earlier, the driver is getting done for Dangerous driving IIRC,the ironic thing being if he`d have stayed in the car it would have been just an innocent accident and he`d have been OK!

Why didn't the driver let go of the brakes? Or is it not common knowledge that if you're already skidding, pressing the brake pedal harder won't help?

  • Most people learn to pass the driving test not to actually drive and since a test would probably be cancelled in conditins like this most people never will learn to fully understand what is happening when they drive....

The guy has no idea does he. He was on a public street, the guy who filmed him has every right to do so. Maybe he hit his head (or the car rolled over it).
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

And not one single person in the whole street thought "Hmm, a bag of grit would solve this problem for a fiver and prevent my neighbours pinballing their cars in to my walls/car"

The idea of this video poster telling his neighbors that it's too dangerous to go out because of the ice is as dumb as the driver not checking the road first.

"Too icy, stay indoors" is not the sort of attitude that forwards human advancement.

Least of all the c***s lying in wait for people to crash rather than doing anything about it. The jumpers are just idiots.

  • Do you have a ready supply of Grit or salt to deal with your road I don't and so would stay in and expect anyone else with any common sense to be able to judge for themselves whether or not to drive in such conditions...

Yes, I do, because it's smart to plan for winter weather in winter, and a big bag of salty grit isn't expensive. But even if I didn't, I wouldn't sit by the window hoping someone else crashes so I could put it on youtube.

(do you guys not get roadside grit bins?)

  • We don't get roadside grit bins where I live as it's out of town.. Gritting of the roads or Salting here is the responsibilty of the council although I understand with most new estates they are managed by Private companies that are paid so much a month by the residents so maybe someone should have contacted the appropriate authority although tbh they should prempt it rather than wait till it occurs..

You'd have thought someone would have gone and washed down the road to clear the ice!

Not even that, just run a hose out and give the whole place a soaking...
  • if the temperature had stayed low or dropped surely hosing it down would have merely kpet it ice............. or made it that way if it hadn't been.....
