Fitting a Cateye Strada to a 2nd bike

One of my intentions for 2010 is to get the Giant back on the road, but it's lacking a cycle computer. My other bike has a Cateye Strada (wired) which I'm happy with, but rather than shell out for another one, can I buy a second magnet/sensor/handlebar mount to use it on 2 bikes? I seem to recall the Strada can be set up for 2 different wheel sizes; does it keep a separate total mileage for each one or does it all go onto one total?

  • This is what I do. I couldn't find a seperate fitting kit, so I bought 2 computers and kept one as a spare.

You are right, you can set up different wheel sizes; but the total mileage is combined.

    Cheers

Thanks, in that case I'll just buy a second. I thought the price had gone up but I realised I was looking at the cadence version.
  • Actually, here is the solution to all your problems.

I thought you were talking about that cadence, probably because that's what I have, but I assume they'll both be similair.

    Cheers

Yes setup 2 different wheel sizes, A and B data stored seperate.

My wired Cateye Strada has just stopped working. I can't tell if it the wire, sensor, mounting that's wrong. The head unit appears to be working ok as it scrolls through the list. The cadence is working but not the speed counter. I been leaving bike outside and it been fine but with the snow it maybe the cause of the fault. It had that much rain on it and it always worked still. I checked the sensor and is still close to the magnet.

Wow, I didn't know you can get a replacement kit. The thing is i had it about 6 months. It should still be under guarantee. But i don't have the receipt. Should i send it back to Cateye?

I am needing a replacement but not for a 2nd bike. Mine is the Strada Cadence. Don't think the kit supplies the cadence sensor. 2 year warranty just on the computer part.

    Here's the manual
