just seen it on the BBC. Top Cat was my favourite for years - I seem to remember back then they were't allowed to call it Top Cat as it was same name as a brand of catfood. EDIT - It was renamed by the BBC as Boss Cat.

Never understood why the title and the theme tune never quite married up:

RIP Arnold Stang - the voice of top Cat

Bad news, looks like Officer Dibble will have to go into retirement....
Shame, Top Cat was my fave too. Can't remember the other cats names though. Was one of them called Shorty?

All I remember is Bennie always saying "Hey TC" - he was TC's sidekick!

I thought the others were all vaguely sinister.

I remember collecting all the TC figures and scenes from Weetabix boxes sometime around 1972/3 I'm guessing. :D
  • When I was a child I had a record by Arnold Stang called Ivy will cling. Crap song really but as a small cild I really liked it. I can even remember the B side "Where ya calling from Charlie?"
    Tail end Charlie

The above post may contain traces of sarcasm or/and bullsh*t.

IIRC it was based loosely on Sgt Bilko.
    The gang members were:

Benny the Ball, Choo-Choo, Brain, Fancy-Fancy, Spook & Officer Dibble

I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

That always confused me as a kid. I thought I was stupid. Thanks for clearing it up

Shame... best cartoon next to Deputy Dawg.
The humour may be nearly 50yrs old, but sharp as a needle.
GOD REST YOU, voice of TC.

When I saw Bilko for the first time just a few years after I was a Top cat fan - I recognised that TC was based on Bilko immediately. On that level it worked perfectly and I went on to be a massive Bilko fan too. Still am. 8)

Dont watch the Steve Martin Bilko film then!!! Its REALLY bad! (Watch BoFinger instead as it captures the spirit of Bilko better, and thats saying something, LOL)

Don't worry - already seen it but I seem to have completely blanked it from my memory - must have hated it.
